KNVB: A new way to referee

A new way to referee

This season new forms of competition have been introduced in pupil football. Fun and development are paramount. Together with the trainers of the KNVB Academy, we developed a training program to train pupil referees and game supervisors for these new forms of play.

A blended learning program

For the youngest pupils the role of the referee has changed drastically. Letting children play football is most important at that age. The game supervisor monitors the rules, explains the rules and will intervene only in case of lack of clarity.

Together with the KNVB Academy we developed a course based on blended learning; in class, on the field and via an app (iOS and Android). The app gives access to an overview of the rules, contains quiz questions and students can give each other feedback. The app also plays an important role in the certification of students.

‘The app that we developed with Lukkien uniquely connects the practice on the field and activated learning during the course, with online learning. The lecturers also have much more information to actually deliver customization.”
